The Law of Tort & Mercantile.
1. a. Define the Tort? Meaning of Tort: The
word Tort is derived from French word of the same spelling which means
"mischief, injury, wrong, or calamity", from Latin tortus meaning
twisted.
A Tort is the French word for a "wrong." A tort is a
civil wrong. A civil wrong involves a breach of a duty owed to someone
else, as opposed to criminal wrongdoing which involves a breach of a

Maxim of Equity:
Maxim 1 Equity will not suffer a wrong to be without a remedy.Meaning:
Latin term “Ubi jus ibi remedium”. Where there is a right, there is
remedy It means that no wrong should go undressed if it is capable of
being remedied by courts. Where there is a wrong. There is a remedy.
Where there is right there is a remedy. Aright without a remedy is a vex
thing.
